Biography

**Trigger warning for mentions of death, abuse and suicide--Seraphine was born to Olivia Le Malheur in Ishgard, a Duskwight high-born of a minor house, who has connections with House Caulignout. Olivia, a talented songstress and bard, often snuck out from her home in disguise to entertain at The Forgotten Knight or on the streets. Unfortunately, her family caught onto her 'wild' behavior and sought to marry her off quickly.
She was married off to Ishgardian noble of a minor house Gloucent Desmarais with connections to House Dzemael, whom was an older elezen with a violent temper. He was well known for his habits of drinking, gambling and rampant womanizing much to Olivia’s chagrin. One night, she returns to The Forgotten Knight in secret. Olivia meets a charming yet mysterious Duskwight male known for his eerie glowing crimson stare and long pale white hair - Ange B'londe. They have a passionate affair that results with Olivia becoming pregnant.
Ange continues to write Olivia to convince her to join his black magic cult, Mundus and whisk her away from Gloucent. Despite her love for him, she refuses in fear her unborn child’s safety and tells Ange nothing of her pregnancy. She passes Seraphine off as Gloucent's heir. The series of tragic events that occurred after could only make one wonder if they were all mere puppets in a play to some unknown force..
Olivia taught Seraphine how to sing and gardening in their time together. These few fond memories of the past are one’s he treasures. Otherwise, Gloucent is very strict, wanting an heir fit for his title. He hired tutors to teach him etiquette, dancing, swordsmanship and academic subjects with hardly any rest. He's often left isolated in the study to master these things to perfection.
Seraphine is far from such, prone to clumsiness and jinxed with bad luck. He could see spirits and voidsent attracted to him, believing them to be his friends in his naiveté. They nearly convinced him to burn down the manor once before Olivia stopped him. He typically ran off to the wilds of Coerthas nearly ending up freezing every time when Gloucent was frighteningly upset with him over a mess he made.
When Seraphine got older, Gloucent became impatient with his less than perfect antics and punishes him cruelly despite Olivia’s attempts to stop him. Seraphine was eight years old when his mother died. A servant found Olivia’s journal that gave away the evidence that Seraphine isn’t Gloucent’s real son. Olivia made Seraphine hide underneath a bed while she was found and beaten to death by the man. Little Seraphine stares at her corpse for hours being unable to cry lest he give himself away to the man in a drunken rage. He hasn’t been able to cry since then.
Ultimately, Gloucent decides to use Seraphine gain more wealth and power while keeping the secret that he isn’t truly his son to himself. He’s punished for any mishap in his conduct, unable to leave the manor without supervision and begins to mask his real emotions with a charming demeanor. Most of the servants treat him poorly aside his old tutor from Old Sharlayan, Pierre.
On Seraphine’s 18th birthday, he receives a parcel from Olivia. This contained information of his true parentage of Ange B’londe, a voidsentian vampire elezen, along with details of his cult with their obsession for eternal life and devotion to Diabolos. He’s given a sharp ornate silver dagger that was imbued with a holy power to protect him from Ange and other void creatures should he need it. He thought this was a cruel prank from the servants and ignored such initially.
With his handsome looks and charming mask, Seraphine gains notice in Ishgardian noble society and many suitors. Gloucent took advantage of such that he secretly lend out Seraphine to women and men of nobility and the church who wished to bed him for a fee and to pay off his gambling debts. Gloucent planned on taking bids to place him in an arranged marriage for those who wanted him before his innocence was taken completely and his title most of all.
Seraphine endured such a lifestyle until he was twenty when he began to feel himself crumble under the weight of the memories and the shame. With one last heated scolding, he snaps into a blind rage and stabs Gloucent to death with Olivia’s dagger. Powerful black magic he hadn’t been trained to use burst out of him causing the entire manor to be set aflame and burn to ashes to the ground with all inside aside from Pierre who had been dismissed years earlier.
Seraphine contemplated ending his life in having nothing left but bad memories, but decided on a path of a bloody vengeance. In his mind, Seraphine thought this was all Ange’s fault and sought to end his life to avenge his mother’s death. He runs away from the burning manor without rest through the frost wasteland of Coerthas to Dravania with only the clothes on his back.
Soon hunger began to grip Seraphine to such a point to take in any sustenance he could find. Little did he know he was eating poisonous Hemlock plants. He was found and nursed back to health by the Vath, barely clinging to life with a dangerous fever. After his recovery, he made the decision to let ‘Seraphine’ die feeling disgusted by the name. He adopts a new one along with a new life as 'Hemlocke' to remind himself of all he’d survived.

Hemlocke travels first to Ul’dah where he is invited to join the Arrzaneth Ossuary Thaumaturge guild whom sensed his strong inclination for black magic. In exchange for a room to stay, Cocobuki often sends Hemlocke out to procure many ingredients for their rituals despite how little he knows of his new environment. Shortly after meeting Thancred, he becomes involved in Eorzean struggles and joins the scions.
He researches the whereabouts of Ange B’londe and the breadcrumb trail leads him to find other vampires connected to him. Hemlocke typically ends up seducing and ending their lives one by one with his dagger now named ‘Olivia’. With clues from the lost city of Amdapor and the Void Ark quest, he learns of the Mhach ruins and sneaks his way inside one fateful night. Unfortunately, he arrives during an important ritual between Ange, possessed by Diabolos at the time, and the cultists. Ange easily cuts down Hemlocke, but when he regains his senses, the vampire cried bloody tears to find out this was his son. He gives him his blood for him to survive and transform completely into a vampire. Having no memory of the night, Hemlocke now struggles to control his ever-increasing strength and newfound lust for blood.

Mythic Creation Seraphim "The burning one"

*SPOILER WARNING - This profile contains details concerning story spoilers up to patch 6.48 Pandaemonium raids.Bio: Seraphim is a fire-aspected creation born in Akadaemia Anyder by Hephaistos aka Lahabrea of the Convocation. They were created not long after Phoinix whom they consider like a sibling. Early on, they began to show unusual signs of individuality with naturally protective and gentle mannerisms. These traits were mirrored by a frightening power that could easily reduce other creations to ash if threatened. The creation grew a close familial bond to their master Hephaistos that they protected without question. Soon, they would do the same for young Erichthonios after his birth.Unfortunately, a dangerous curiosity began to fester in Hephaistos' wife Athena to see how her husband so easily managed to create the spark of life in such an imperfect creation. She imprisoned Seraphim with the intent to experiment on them to find the truth behind this. Hephaistos believed Seraphim gone missing during this time, worried for their safety. The painful experiments- both physical and aetherical with the use of the Heart of Sabik -heightened the creation's aggression with the growth of claws, fangs and a multitude of black feathered wings grew in their evolution.In their compassion, one of Athena's associates allowed Seraphim to escape in which they attacked all who blocked their path. A taste of ancient blood for the first time withered their already frayed sanity, feeling an uncontrollable hunger for more. Poor Hephaistos came upon the Seraphim's slaughter having drained many of his associates, mouth bloodied and parted in an haunting laughter he would not forget. Unable to end his beloved creation, Hephaistos placed the Seraphim in Pandaemonium in their own gilded cage with Hesperos tasked to watch over them personally. This left them confused and hurt that their master would leave them in this dark prison.Seraphim sought an opportunity to escape, finding one the evening Hesperos came to them now with a hunger not so unlike their own. They slaughtered many keywards together with the newly changed vampiric ancient keeping his promise to protect Seraphim. Sensing the now grown Erichthonios close, Hesperos bid Seraphim to flee and find the freedom they sought while he kept them busy. Seraphim, having no desire to leave without the Phoinix, made the mistake of going back to them only to find they had been defeated. This loss crippled their will and allowed them to be captured once more.Time passed until the final days were upon them. Seraphim broke out of their cell with the intention of leaving but found Erichthonios guarding Pandaemonium alone. Recalling when they used to watch over the kind boy in his youth, Seraphim felt the desire to protect return to them enough to fight against the painful bloodlust they felt. They would stay at the Keyward's side, keeping the dangerous creations in Pandaemonium at bay until they were both eventually sundered by Hydaelyn.

  • Ancient Seraphim is only partially sundered - 5 shards on different stars and 2 rejoined with source.

  • All shards possess black hair and red eyes aside from the First shard who's part Sin Eater/Hemi's partially red hair due to his voidsent nature.

  • Hemlocke looks the most like Seraphim being he's the shard of the source and attuned to fire more than any other element due to their connection.

  • Seraphim haunts all of their shards, lingering like a ghost in the background and persuading them in a variety of ways.

  • There is no shard on the Thirteenth due to plot reasons.
